NITRO KID is also, not all similar to the movie whose name it’s aping from (Turbo Kid) - instead, it's a 1980's disco fantasy about an era that never existed. Matrix jokes cross paths with Bruce Lee References, and at a certain point - all of the material just becomes an idea of wherever HOLLYWOOD is.

What's HOLLYWOOD? Is it fights in tight spaces? What does an action movie look like, and can I play it? I imagine that WAR OF THE JUGGERS is an action movie. Drenched in leather, blood and dust. All of these robust rooms of cyber display bleed into each other, little mazes and wires that stop being functional at a certain point and become aesthetic. Bruce Lee - and let's be real, that's who it is, dominates the title screen. Some people attached to the play demo actually got Neo, some of them got Trinity. A list of cards long enough I couldn't move down them in one turn dominate the game. Dodge This, the game beckons me. Fire one round and end your turn for extra damage.

TURBO KID will chug along, favorably, whittling at you. It's more of a game of placement than it is one of offense - Dive away, plug bullets into enemies. Save the kids. Everything's a dungeon now, offices, schools, theme parks. It feels like calling back to childhood, when there was no way to take Videogames into real life. It's all a space to play in.
